I am confused as to which program (PSC or DIP) I should take. Where can I find this information?

Usually a person receives a referral letter from the MVA or the courts. In that letter, it states which program you must complete by your due date. If you are still uncertain, you may contact the MVA.

What happens if I do not take the Driver Improvement Program (DIP) by my DIP due date?

If you do not complete the DIP program by your due date your license will be suspended.

I do not have my MVA referral letter. Can I still complete the DIP class?

Yes, you may still complete the class without the referral letter. However, you will fill out a waiver assuming responsibility for completing the correct class. Please have your driver’s license number with you so that the MVA may be notified. Anyone from any state is welcome to complete the class, but we do not notify other states or the courts. Other states frequently accept the Maryland Driver Improvement Program.  Check with your state.

Does taking the DIP remove points from my Maryland driving record?

No, not in the State of Maryland. Points will remain active on your driving record for 2 years from the date of your violation.

My license is suspended and I just completed the DIP. When will my suspension be lifted?

We electronically notify the MVA within 24 hours of your completion if you provided us with the correct Maryland license number.  You are also given a hard copy of your completion at the time of completion. It is up to the MVA to lift your suspension. We do not notify other states or the courts.
